Exploring Physics takes you on an adventure from the vastness of the cosmos to the heart of subatomic particles. This field of science delves into the interplay between energy and matter, a fundamental relationship that has captivated brilliant minds for centuries. Modern physicists create laser technologies, develop medical imaging systems, and pioneer nanotechnology applications. If you're prepared, hone your analytical abilities and embrace curiosity—physics requires both mathematical prowess and an inquisitive spirit.
As a Physics student, you can select the standard Physics track or explore biological applications through the Biophysics specialization. The curriculum provides comprehensive training across physics disciplines, covering mathematical foundations, classical mechanics, electromagnetism, wave and optical phenomena, quantum theory, and contemporary physics research.
The program equips graduates with both theoretical knowledge and innovative problem-solving abilities, preparing them for advanced academic pursuits or careers in scientific research. The Co-op option offers valuable paid work experience through 12-16 week placements. While maintaining the same rigorous academic standards as the regular program, it includes career-focused course recommendations. Though most positions are in Montreal, students should be willing to relocate within Canada for opportunities.
Participants receive individualized guidance and must fulfill academic standards set by both the Faculty of Arts and Science and the Co-operative Education Institute to maintain their co-op enrollment status.
