Experiment with atoms. Construct molecules. Discover the fundamental particles that form the basis of all scientific disciplines. Observe through the microscope to witness the dynamic interactions and energy of the universe's smallest components. As a chemistry professional, your expertise in chemical processes may result in developing sustainable materials such as biodegradable plastics or life-saving pharmaceuticals.

Our Chemistry and Biochemistry Department boasts cutting-edge laboratories and instruments that provide hands-on experience with industry-standard techniques. Intimate class settings promote meaningful faculty-student connections. Both Chemistry and Biochemistry majors follow a core program where labs, lectures, and tutorials will enable you to: Gain comprehensive knowledge of both organic (carbon-based) and inorganic chemistry. Develop skills to characterize compounds, examine their molecular arrangements, and investigate reaction dynamics and thermodynamics. Acquire rigorous research training. Conduct independent undergraduate research (exclusive to honours and specialization students)

Our Chemistry honours and specialization degrees hold accreditation from Quebec's Order of Chemists. The Chemistry Co-op option offers valuable paid work experience through 12-16 week placements.
