Our modern world is constantly bombarded with moving visuals. The Film and Moving Image Studies program equips you to interpret visual media and master the primary creative medium of the past hundred years. Delve into cinema's worldwide evolution - spanning documentaries, experimental works, and feature films - while examining its future across emerging formats.

By studying film as artistic expression, popular culture, and commercial enterprise, you'll cultivate critical perspectives on movies and their societal impact. You'll gain expertise in cinematic artistry and its social relevance while honing skills in film critique, sequence analysis, and cultural commentary. The adaptable curriculum features small class sizes that promote community and intellectual exchange, along with abundant internship possibilities.

Career-building internships
The MHSoC maintains partnerships with Montreal's leading film festivals, providing annual volunteer and internship placements. Students can also allocate up to six academic credits toward internships at film organizations, gaining experience in archives, research, editorial work, or criticism.
