Discover the realm of Indigenous communities - First Nations, Inuit, and Métis - in Quebec and across Canada. Faculty members involved in community-based studies will guide you in recognizing Indigenous concerns through an Indigenous lens, while enhancing your comprehension of society's position regarding these communities. The curriculum encompasses historical studies, current social and political matters, cultural aspects, and language studies. Language offerings feature beginner courses in Inuktitut, Haudenosaunee (Iroquoian) languages, with emphasis on Kanien'kehá:ka (Mohawk), and Algonquian languages (focusing on Cree). Additional subjects address health, education, media representation, and traditional storytelling. This program emphasizes ethical research practices and meaningful community involvement. Designed with Indigenous perspectives at its core and prioritizing ethical research collaboration, the intimate class environment nurtures a strong program community.
Cegep Students: No specific courses are required beyond the DEC. Minimum Cut-off Averages: Minimum cut-off averages should be used as indicators. The cut-off data may change depending on the applicant pool. Applicants who meet the stated minimum requirements are not guaranteed admission to these programs. Quebec Cegep (CRC): DEC; Canadian High Schools: 70 per cent; U.S. High Schools: 2.5; University Transfers: C; International Bacc. (IB): 27; Bacc. Francais: 11/20. Make sure you also meet Concordia’s minimum admission requirements. Quebec: You must complete a two-year, pre-university program or a three-year professional DEC (Diplome detudes collégiales). CRC minimum requirements for admission vary between 19.000 and 30.000; however, based on space availability, students below this average may be considered. Other parts of Canada: You must be a high school graduate, depending on which province you are from. Applicant from other countries must have the requirements equivalent to Canada. English language requirements: Direct Admission: TOEFL (paper-based) score between 540 and 576. Conditional Admission: TOEFL (paper-based) score between 505 and 539; MELAB minimum score of 74, 2 on speaking tests; CAEL minimum score of 50; CAE minimum score of C; CPE (advanced qualification for proficient users only) minimum score of C.
