The Storytelling with Data program is a groundbreaking Ontario College Graduate Certificate designed to train a new generation of storytellers skilled in integrating human-centered data analysis. Participants will examine the powerful fusion of narrative and information across creative fields and other sectors. Distinctive aspects of this innovative curriculum include focusing on human experiences and ethical data practices through Human-Centered Data Analysis and FATE (fairness, accountability, transparency, ethics) coursework, while applying data-driven storytelling techniques across diverse creative domains like film, television, advertising, journalism, cultural management, gaming, and esports. Combining design, communication, and analytical training, learners will master transforming intricate data into compelling stories. The program teaches students to integrate data into creative projects, develop visualizations, construct interactive dashboards, deliver dynamic presentations, and shape convincing narratives. Practical experience is gained through hands-on learning in Storyworks and Field Placement/Capstone courses, where students work as professional data storytellers in real-world scenarios. This two-semester, full-time program features a flexible HyFlex delivery model with evening and weekend synchronous sessions, enabling both local and international students to enhance their expertise and establish careers in the emerging field of data storytelling.
