The Centennial College Social Service Worker program equips you to become a skilled practitioner, advocate, and catalyst for social transformation, exploring the evolving roles of social service professionals in today's dynamic society.
As a student in this program, you'll gain the expertise, abilities, and ethical foundation needed to assist varied populations—including individuals, families, groups, and communities—in improving their quality of life.
This two-year diploma program blends social service methodologies, philosophies, and practical skills through an anti-oppressive lens and social justice perspective. You'll explore key areas like professional skills, teamwork dynamics, cross-disciplinary collaboration, communication strategies, counseling techniques, community building, activism, social change initiatives, and policy analysis. Through analytical thinking and self-reflection, you'll also examine how beliefs and societal structures shape both social challenges and their potential resolutions.
