The Biotechnology - Advanced program equips you with essential scientific principles, techniques, and skills for industrial microbiology and chemistry. This hands-on program covers biotechnology applications, biochemistry, microbial genetics, along with clinical and environmental microbiology.
Through Biotechnology - Advanced coursework, you'll learn to:
Extract, count, and classify microorganisms from diverse samples;
Precisely operate and calibrate lab instruments including pH/BOD meters, gas chromatographs, spectrophotometers, HPLCs, centrifuges, PCR thermocyclers, and gel electrophoresis devices;
Formulate media and reagents for cultivating pathogenic microbes;
Develop and execute sophisticated microbiology and microbial genetics experiments;
Extract DNA and conduct gel electrophoresis and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) procedures.

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years or older).

Mathematics Grade 11 M or U, or 12 C or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or take a Centennial College Engineering Math Skills Assessment for Admission.

TOEFL - 550 Paper-based and 80+ minimums of 20 for the Internet-based test
