The ways we interact continue to transform constantly. We exchange messages, consume media, navigate interfaces, and share internet culture. We also participate in elections, engage in discussions, and join public demonstrations. Carleton's scholars and researchers both analyze these societal shifts and actively influence them. Our academic work pushes the limits of communication scholarship by drawing from diverse intellectual foundations. Cross-disciplinary collaboration sits at our core. While some faculty and graduate students specialize in Communication and Media Studies, others bring expertise from fields like Sociology, Political Science, Literary Analysis, Geography, Art History, and Digital Interface Design.
