The Building Engineering master's program enables students focusing on building performance, heritage preservation, and fire safety engineering to deepen their expertise in the field while developing specialized competencies to meet growing industry needs across both private and public sectors.
Carleton's building engineering alumni have secured prominent roles in leading firms as building science professionals, energy analysts, sustainability advisors, heritage conservation specialists, computational modeling experts, and fire safety engineers. Many graduates also serve in public sector organizations including federal agencies like the National Research Council, Natural Resources Canada, and Public Services and Procurement Canada, as well as municipal governments (such as Ottawa) and utility providers (like Hydro Ottawa).
