Journalists serve as the vital observers and communicators for their local areas and the nation. The storytelling abilities that define excellent journalism are highly sought after across all industries, extending far beyond traditional media outlets.

Whether in conflict areas or government centers, from legal proceedings to corporate meetings, or within medical facilities, law enforcement stations, sports venues, and community spaces, journalists are always present where news unfolds. They investigate, document their findings, and provide insights into the evolving matters that influence our world.

Being essential contributors to democratic processes, journalists must possess strong education, critical thinking skills, ethical awareness of their role's weight, and a principled framework to inform their choices.

Carleton University's Bachelor of Journalism degree is administered by its prestigious School of Journalism and Communication, a cornerstone department that houses Canada's most established and renowned journalism program.

For over seven decades, our alumni have thrived in media and related fields globally, thanks to our rigorous program that blends hands-on training with comprehensive academic coursework.
