The study of biology feels intrinsically linked to life on Cape Breton Island. Along this ecologically rich Atlantic Canadian coastline, we're continually aware of our deep connection to the natural world.

Biology explores all forms of life through scientific inquiry. While all living beings share fundamental characteristics - like common cellular origins and genetic foundations - their remarkable variety creates numerous biological specializations. This rich diversity makes collaborative, community-based learning essential at CBU.

As a biology student, you'll examine life's building blocks: from beginnings and anatomy to functions, reproduction, development, behavior, and evolutionary processes. You'll also investigate how organisms interact both individually and collectively within their ecosystems.
