Studying French in Cape Breton offers a unique experience. Our French minor or concentration provides comprehensive language instruction from beginner to advanced levels, complemented by studies in French literature, cultural studies, and linguistics.

Students can pursue a French studies concentration within three-year general BA or BACS programs. Alternatively, those enrolled in four-year BA or BACS degrees can complement their studies with a French minor.

French can also be taken as a 24-credit academic subject in the three-year BACS program or incorporated into an area major for four-year BA/BACS degrees. Our French courses, ranging from introductory to advanced levels, count as electives toward other degree requirements. Additionally, we offer an 18-credit Certificate in French Language Proficiency.
