This intensive 10-month program is designed for university graduates in Humanities or Social Sciences, or diploma holders in related human services fields. [Examples include Mental Health and Addictions, Child and Youth Worker, Developmental Services Worker, Nursing, Gerontology, Early Childhood Education, Recreation, Community and Justice Services, or other fields approved by the Program Coordinator.] Candidates are required to complete 40 hours of direct client interaction in a social service setting. After eight months of classroom instruction, students will undertake a two-month practical placement with a community organization. The learning outcomes serve as final indicators of knowledge and skill acquisition. These outcomes are interconnected and should be considered holistically rather than individually. They reflect the comprehensive, integrated learning achieved by program graduates. Practical experience is gained through field placement opportunities.
