Explore and analyze childhood and adolescence through multiple perspectives. Our distinctive curriculum incorporates psychology, pedagogy, sociology, anthropology, cultural analysis, and criminal justice studies—along with other fields—to deeply comprehend young individuals and their viewpoints.
The Child and Youth Studies Department (CHYS) provides four-year Honours BA or Major BA programs, a three-year BA degree, and a combined BA (Honours)/BEd (Primary-Junior) program. These interdisciplinary programs blend theoretical frameworks with practical applications to understand youth within cultural, economic, legal, familial, educational, peer, and community contexts. Drawing from psychology, sociology, anthropology, criminology, education, and cultural studies, our academic approach synthesizes diverse methodologies to foster a holistic understanding of children and adolescents.
