The Advanced VFX (Virtual Production) program is a comprehensive two-year, full-time course offered by the Centre for Entertainment Arts (CEA), emphasizing core Visual Effects principles and Virtual Production methodologies. Participants will explore various VFX disciplines including modeling, sculpting, texturing/surfacing, lighting, compositing, and FX. The curriculum incorporates Virtual Production techniques across these areas, with hands-on training in Unreal Engine and other industry-standard tools for creating, adjusting, and capturing VFX elements directly in-camera. Through immersive learning that mirrors professional Virtual Production settings—including real-time rendering workflows—students develop both creative and technical expertise, preparing them for collaborative problem-solving in fast-paced production environments.
Applicants must have,
High School Diploma or equivalent
Or
English 30-1, English 30-2 or equivalent
Or
Satisfactory results on the Bow Valley College Admissions Test
And
Portfolio submission of 15-20 pieces of artistic work (e.g. sketches, renderings, design variations) in digital format. Successful portfolios reflect a broad range of techniques, influences, styles, and subject matter.
English language proficiency requirements:
IELTS Academic: 6.0 with minimum band score 6.0, Pearson Test of English (PTE) A: 59-64, TOEFL: 83, Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL): 50
