The Département d’études françaises et québécoises focuses on developing and enhancing French language skills across all proficiency levels, catering to beginners, intermediate learners, advanced students, and native speakers alike. The curriculum consists of five tiers, each including at least two grammar and writing classes paired with a course dedicated to listening and speaking skills. This structured approach ensures students follow a clear progression, ultimately enabling them to comprehend, read, speak, and write French with accuracy.
These programs are tailored for those aiming to specialize in French as a Second Language or Études françaises et québécoises. While many participants intend to continue their education at the Master’s level, this is not a requirement. Both programs require 60 credits (20 courses), with Honours in French as a Second Language combining FRE and FRA course codes, while the Honours in Études françaises et québécoises uses FRA exclusively. Students may apply up to 9 credits (3 courses) from related disciplines, subject to departmental approval, as complementary credits.
