The Practical Nursing Ontario College Diploma program equips you for a career in healthcare. You'll master essential skills and methods for professional practice, covering assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation techniques needed to deliver nursing care across all age groups. The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge, laboratory practice, hands-on experience, and self-directed learning.
Students develop practical abilities through rotations in diverse healthcare environments. A standout feature is the on-campus Simulation Lab and Nursing labs, where you'll encounter lifelike scenarios. These simulations boost your confidence with clinical skills before you begin patient care during fieldwork placements. Clinical rotations occur in community locations including retirement residences, long-term care facilities, and hospitals.
To become a Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario, you must obtain licensure from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). This program provides the foundational training required to take Ontario's Regulatory Exam-Practical Nurse (REx-PN).
