The Environmental & Sustainability Studies program is an interdisciplinary journey that pushes you to integrate expertise from diverse disciplines. You'll develop a holistic perspective on both natural and human ecosystems and their long-term viability, while identifying key challenges and potential remedies.

Our ESST curriculum combines theoretical foundations with practical application, merging conventional academic methods with experiential learning opportunities. This dual approach cultivates students into both analytical thinkers and innovative solution-finders.

Upon completion, you'll possess deep sustainability knowledge and the ability to drive meaningful transformations toward a more durable, sustainable future. Outside lectures, you'll collaborate with faculty on research initiatives and join fellow students in community-based sustainability efforts covering areas like:

eco-conscious nutrition
renewable energy infrastructure
equitable environmental policies
Indigenous sovereignty
Community engagement forms a fundamental part of the Acadia education. Through ESST, you'll enhance your civic responsibility, evolving into a more effective environmental guardian and sustainability champion.
