This program offers medical students pursuing their Doctor of Medicine degree deeper engagement with research activities.
Available to Western Sydney University MD candidates, it allows participants to pause their standard medical studies for either 12 months full-time or 24 months part-time after finishing the first two years of the MD program. This break enables more intensive research exposure than the regular curriculum provides.

The initial two years of the Bachelor of Medical Research mirror the MD program's first two years. Most students return to their medical studies after this research year, which fulfills the Bachelor's requirements. However, the degree also serves as an alternative exit option for those choosing not to continue with the MD.
