Earn a Master of Research degree in just 18 months across diverse academic fields. Designed for graduates holding a relevant bachelor's degree or an honors qualification in another discipline, this program offers personalized learning.
At Victoria University, your Master of Research journey will be customized based on your educational background. You'll develop essential expertise in research ethics and project planning before advancing to specialized research methodologies or discipline-specific coursework. After maintaining a 70% average in these units, you'll embark on your own research project in an area you're passionate about.
VU's innovative Master of Research enables students to conduct and finalize a supervised research project at AQF Level 9. The program begins with coursework units focusing on: a) understanding research expectations and processes, and b) relevant disciplinary specializations when applicable. (Note: Students entering with varying qualifications may receive Advanced Standing for certain units. For instance, those with an AQF Level 7 degree in their research field may qualify for credit in one disciplinary studies unit.) The research process includes structured milestones to ensure ongoing support and timely, high-quality project completion.
Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in the same discipline with an average grade of Distinction (or equivalent) in the final year.
OR
Completion of an Australian Bachelor Honours degree (or equivalent) in a different discipline with an average grade of Distinction (or equivalent).
PLUS
Demonstrate English competency sufficient for study at masters level by providing evidence of one or more of the following:
- completion of one or more degrees with English as the language of instruction and assessment, undertaken in a predominantly English-speaking context (within the last two years)
- IELTS (or equivalent) overall score of 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0 in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking)
- a score of not less than 92 with no section score less than 22 in the internet-based Teaching of English Foreign Language (TOEFL) test, or English proficiency equivalent
- other documented proof of English proficiency equivalent to the above.
