Join a rapidly expanding field seeking graduates skilled in exercise and biomedical sciences. Victoria University's Bachelor of Science in Biomedical and Exercise Science combines these two disciplines into an innovative dual-degree program.
This program merges biomedical science with exercise science, creating an exciting new academic focus within physical activity, sports, and health research. Key areas of study include: core principles of anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, biomechanics and kinesiology
psychological aspects, how physical activity affects bodily structure and function, and how disease alters these processes.
You'll develop skills to implement theoretical concepts and analytical methods across various practical and clinical situations, including industry placements and community engagements. The program also provides hands-on experience in research design and execution, allowing you to contribute to active research projects as part of a team.
Victoria University boasts state-of-the-art medical research facilities at Sunshine Hospital, along with cutting-edge exercise and sports science laboratories at our Footscray Park campus.
Upon graduating, you will be able to:
Utilize comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, and psychology to examine health, disease, nutrition, and exercise science;
Implement academic understanding in practical scenarios, including lab simulations and real-world industry environments, both independently and collaboratively;
Evaluate scientific research methodologies, experimental design, and project development while considering social, cultural, and environmental factors;
Completion of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (VCE or equivalent) including Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English (or equivalent). AND: A study score of at least 20 in two of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Health & Human Development, any Mathematics or Physical Education. OR: Completion of an Australian Advanced Diploma or Diploma (or equivalent). OR: Completion of a Foundation course or equivalent.
English language requirements
IELTS (Academic module): Overall score of 6.0 (no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL Internet: Overall score of 67 (Listening 12, Speaking 18, Reading 15, Writing 21)
Pearson Test of English (PTE): Overall score of 50 (no section score less than 50)
University of Cambridge - Advanced (CAE): Overall score of 169. No individual band less than 169.
VU English - English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (Level 4): achieved.
