This program is designed for individuals who have completed a four-year psychology degree from an accredited institution. It offers a fifth year of guided training and formal education to equip students for their subsequent supervised internship, a requirement before applying for general psychologist registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. The Master of Professional Psychology delivers a full-year curriculum focused on:
establishing fundamental professional skills, expanding upon the knowledge gained through an APAC-recognized undergraduate program;
applying research-backed methods aligned with the scientist-practitioner framework;
maintaining a comprehensive, generalist perspective; and
developing core competencies as specified in APAC's accreditation criteria.
Instruction incorporates diverse approaches such as lectures, workshops, practical skill development, online components, and supervised clinical placements at both the University's Northfields Psychology Clinic and external sites. The program prioritizes hands-on learning through demonstration sessions, recorded therapy assessments, case studies, role-playing exercises, and reflective feedback sessions.
