The Master of Philosophy is a two-year specialized research program designed for students pursuing careers that involve conducting, analyzing, and implementing research findings, with an emphasis on Human Geography and Sustainable Communities. Coursework makes up one-third of the program, while the remaining time is dedicated to a supervised research project. This degree also serves as a stepping stone to advanced research programs like the Doctor of Philosophy.
Students will design a tailored coursework component aligned with their research focus before undertaking an in-depth research project. The School of Geography and Sustainable Communities offers expertise in diverse areas including the Anthropocene, Climate Change, Cultural Geography, Disaster Management, Economic Geography, Environmental Geography, Indigenous Geographies, Mobilities, Population Geography, Resource Management, Social Geography, and Urban Geography.
Honours degree with 2nd class Division 2 or higher, coursework Masters with WAM 60+ or GPA of 2.8 out of 4.
Candidates with a Coursework Masters degree or a 4-year Bachelor Honours degree in the same discipline may be granted up to 24 credit points of advanced standing for the coursework component of the Master of Philosophy.
