The Graduate Certificate in Law of the Sea caters to legal professionals at various career stages who operate in maritime policy or operations, or those aspiring to enter maritime-related professions.
This program offers comprehensive insights into maritime law and ocean governance, examining international legal and policy matters concerning global oceans. It explores these topics through the lenses of maritime trade significance, marine resource potential, environmental importance, and as both a catalyst for international conflicts and collaboration.
Students will acquire expertise in maritime law enforcement, security challenges and responses, environmental protection laws, shipping regulations, and marine resource governance. The curriculum develops skills to assess legal, political, and operational influences shaping maritime law and policy, while formulating solutions to address regulatory shortcomings.
Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Law of the Sea can progress to the Master of Laws (Law of the Sea) program, receiving credit for the four subjects completed during the certificate course.
A recognised Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor degree or equivalent.
