The Graduate Certificate in Urban Design offers students an initial exploration of urban design as a field, covering its fundamental concepts, theories, and applications. While certificate holders will grasp essential urban design concepts, they won't be recognized professionally as 'urban designers.' This program serves as either an enhancement for professionals and graduates in related disciplines or an introductory pathway for those from unrelated academic backgrounds.

The Graduate Certificate in Urban Design generally includes these three core components:

Forces Shaping Urban Environments (URBD 5807). This module explores historical influences on city development, including economic, political, cultural, and artistic factors.

Sustainable Urban Development (URBD 5803). This component addresses critical sustainability issues in urban areas and examines strategies for promoting environmentally responsible city growth.
