Oral medicine is a dental specialty focused on diagnosing, preventing, and primarily providing non-surgical treatment for medically related disorders of the oral and maxillofacial area, especially oral mucosal diseases, orofacial pain, and managing oral health for patients with complex medical conditions.
The DClinDent program combines coursework with a supervised research component. Students study biostatistics, research methods, oral and maxillofacial imaging, clinical dental practice, and specialized research topics. The curriculum features lectures, weekly seminars, journal discussions, clinical work, and guided research. Cross-disciplinary learning and research options are offered. Research methodology and the research project account for 25% of the degree requirements.
