The Music Honours program enables students to pursue specialized, advanced studies in musical performance, composition, creative music technologies, and/or musicology (encompassing historical musicology, ethnomusicology, music psychology, music sociology, and music education).
Through this program, students gain extensive research capabilities, technical proficiency, analytical methods, and critical thinking skills while refining their chosen specialization(s). Completing a Music Honours degree creates pathways for postgraduate studies at prestigious music institutions worldwide while simultaneously expanding career prospects in fields like performance, music education, composition, arranging, production, arts administration, journalism, library science, and community music initiatives.
Learning Outcomes: Graduates will demonstrate (1) advanced capabilities in musical performance, composition, or musicological studies (including historical, ethnographic, psychological, sociological, and educational approaches); (2) specialized expertise in their selected focus area; and (3) mastery of research methodologies, technical skills, analytical techniques, and critical evaluation culminating in either a public performance, original composition portfolio, or scholarly dissertation.
