Western Australia's exclusive Bachelor of Art History and Curatorial Studies program stands as a pioneering offering in the region. This unique course merges art historical scholarship with practical curatorial training, opening doors to diverse professional opportunities in arts administration, museum and gallery curation, alongside art critique and interpretation. While centered on Art History and its practical applications, the program also develops versatile abilities in visual and spatial evaluation, analytical thinking, and effective communication. Featuring exceptional chances for international study, professional internships, and hands-on learning with art objects, the program brings Art History to life through real-world engagement with exhibitions and cultural institutions. The curriculum spans art and exhibition history from Renaissance periods through contemporary times, exploring global artistic centers from Paris to Beijing, and Indigenous art movements from Papunya to Bidydanga. Students gain practical understanding of artistic creation and display methods, equipping them with terminology relevant to modern curatorial and academic environments. The program trains students in multiple forms of art writing, from exhibition proposals to analytical critiques, preparing them for careers within cultural institutions or as independent professionals. With an honors pathway available, graduates can pursue advanced studies at Master's or doctoral levels internationally. Alumni currently study at prestigious American and British universities while others contribute to Australia's vibrant arts sector through gallery and museum positions.
