This Master of Teaching Primary Education offers a graduate qualification for teaching in NSW primary schools. Candidates with the necessary undergraduate degree and specialization subjects can finish the program in two years. Core coursework explores research-driven educational theory and practice to inform professional choices in primary education, covering inclusive learning, digital education, Indigenous Australian engagement, and data-driven educational research. Key Learning Areas deliver subject knowledge and instructional techniques for English, Mathematics, Creative Arts, HSIE, STEM, and PDHPE. The program combines campus-based learning with hands-on field experience.
Designed as a NSW primary teaching preparation program, it meets NESA's subject knowledge requirements. Ideal for soon-to-graduate undergraduates or career changers seeking teaching credentials, it features an intensive 60-day practicum with diverse, well-supported primary teaching experiences across various school environments.
Graduates can pursue primary teaching roles (K-6) with specializations in English, Mathematics, STEM, Creative Arts, or languages in public/private schools domestically or abroad (subject to local employment regulations).
Applicants must have the following: Completed Australian bachelor's degree, master's degree or doctorate, or overseas equivalent AND A minimum of 1 year full-time, or equivalent part-time, study (normally 8 units of study) that is relevant to one or more Key Learning Areas of the primary school curriculum (this is a prerequisite requirement from the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) AND Motivation and suitability for teaching as outlined by NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) The bachelor degree should contain at least one major discipline study relevant to the first teaching area as described by the NSW curriculum and consistent with NESA Subject Content Knowledge Requirements. Academic IELTS- 7.5 overall, with a minimum of 8.0 in both the speaking and listening modules, and a reading and writing score of 7.0; or TOEFL: paper based- 610-633 overall with TWE of 5.0, internet based- 102-109 overall with a writing score of 27
