This Master of Primary Teaching prepares graduates to teach in public, independent, and Catholic schools throughout Australia. Designed with flexibility in mind, the program accommodates working professionals and those with family responsibilities by offering evening and weekend classes. Delivered over eighteen months of full-time study (2-year equivalent), this degree is ideal for bachelor's degree holders seeking to transition into primary education. Notre Dame's strong track record for producing classroom-ready educators is evident in this program, which includes 14 weeks of practical classroom experience. The curriculum is structured to balance academic studies with professional and personal obligations, with most classes at our Broadway campus scheduled outside standard working hours.
No matter your undergraduate background, this Master's program establishes essential teaching foundations for your educational career. Throughout the program, you'll explore core subjects including English, mathematics, science, history, geography, and technology, while also developing research skills in your second year. All students must register for and successfully complete both components of the LANTITE (National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students) before advancing to Year Two of the program.
