This full-time one-year program, or part-time over two years (maximum), is offered in Hobart and potentially Launceston with adequate supervision. The curriculum delivers: specialized training in the student's undergraduate major, research skill development to prepare for MSc/PhD studies or research careers, and concentrated expertise in a scientific discipline. Honors graduates gain strong professional advantages in their field. BSc(Hons) graduates qualify for various professional associations. Students will complete original research culminating in a thesis, alongside potential advanced coursework, literature reviews, academic writing, grant proposals, and seminar presentations. Core units are mandatory for each specialization's research component, with some programs offering optional coursework electives.

Qualification Requirements
Admission to Honours courses at the University of Tasmania require qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree. Applicants must achieve the required grade in their qualifying studies, meet any prerequisite subjects and the English language requirements to be eligible for an offer. Admission is conditional on research project and supervisor availability.

Course Specific Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent with prerequisites in the specialisation of study. Admission is subject to appropriate supervision being available. Graduates from other universities with prerequisites acceptable to the College may be accepted as candidates for the Bachelor of Science with Honours degree.
