The Sydney Conservatorium of Music prioritizes research, fostering a dynamic and varied community of faculty and students. The Master of Music (Composition) program helps students refine advanced composition skills, enabling them to produce works of greater scale and sophistication than undergraduate studies allow. Participants develop both a creative composition portfolio and an accompanying dissertation, which combine to form their final thesis. Throughout the program, students gain research methodology training and explore relevant study areas while receiving supervisory guidance on their portfolio and dissertation. Specializations include music technology, electro-acoustic, ensemble/orchestral, jazz, and music theater composition, with an emphasis on cultivating comprehensive skills for successful project completion.
