The Master of Music Therapy program offers specialized training for aspiring music therapists to work in diverse environments including hospitals, special education institutions, senior care centers, community health initiatives, and private clinics. This two-year curriculum delivers in-depth understanding of music therapy principles, applications, and research. Students will explore both conventional and innovative therapeutic techniques for clients of all ages, from young children to elderly individuals. The Music Therapy Methods curriculum includes vocal and guitar training, improvisation techniques, group and paired musical activities, song-based interventions, and receptive therapy approaches. A significant portion of the program involves four supervised clinical placements in various settings like medical facilities, educational institutions, care homes, and community organizations, all guided by certified music therapy professionals.
This graduate program is designed for individuals holding an undergraduate degree with substantial formal musical education background.
In order to be considered for entry to the Master of Music Therapy, applicants must have completed:
an undergraduate degree or equivalent; and
12.5 points of psychology studies at tertiary level, or MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) from the approved list; and
high-level music skills equivalent to 8th-grade practical and 5th-grade theory AMEB; and
English language requirements:
IELTS (academic English Only): 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL Internet-based test: 79 + ; Writing 21; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13;
Pearson Test of English Academic: 58 + no communicative skill below 50
Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 176 + no skill below 169.
