Designed for professionals, this program welcomes applicants from varied disciplines such as architecture, engineering, computer science, interior design, and psychology. It's particularly well-suited for graduates of the Bachelor of Architecture and Environments degree.
The curriculum explores how lighting design fundamentally alters occupants' visual experience within built environments. Through selecting light fixtures, designing control systems, planning spatial layouts, and analyzing light-material interactions, you'll master techniques to enhance both functionality and beauty in architectural settings.
Students can supplement their studies with research projects and choose from a wide range of elective options.

Core Illumination Design courses are delivered through intensive block sessions spanning multiple full days, replacing traditional weekly class schedules.
Admission to the Master of Architectural Science requires:
a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney or an equivalent qualification; or
completion of the requirements of the embedded graduate diploma; or
completion of the requirement of the graduate certificate with a weighted average mark of at least 70 across all the units attempted for the award.
IELTS score: A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
Pearsons Test of English: A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
