Develop a comprehensive understanding of audio and acoustics design, measurement, and theory, complemented by specialized training in illumination design. Gain insights into how sound influences communication, entertainment, and spatial perception, leading to diverse career opportunities in audio production, system design, acoustic consulting, and lighting design. Architectural Science professionals, with their expertise in analyzing and managing physical phenomena in buildings, significantly impact the functionality, aesthetics, and efficiency of architectural spaces. Students can pursue Architectural Science as a single or double stream program, with the latter combining core units from a secondary degree as electives. The double stream option requires 96 credit points over two years, enabling you to integrate knowledge from related fields and advance your career in the built environment.
Australia's exclusive Audio and Acoustics program stands among the world's elite, blending studio-based production with theoretical and investigative acoustics studies. Ideal for audio engineers, architects, designers, and musicians seeking to expand their expertise, the program features cutting-edge facilities, including two audio studios and top-tier acoustics labs. The Acoustics Research Laboratory boasts an anechoic chamber, reverberation room, and advanced measurement tools, including the southern hemisphere's sole indoor environmental quality lab. Students engage with pioneering research and undertake independent projects in world-class environments.
The Illumination Design program provides rigorous training in visual perception, light measurement, lighting techniques, and sustainability. Designed for architects, engineers, and design professionals, it stands out globally for its multidisciplinary approach to lighting education. The curriculum explores the interplay between lighting, allied disciplines, and human factors like optics and psychology, equipping graduates to drive innovation and adapt to evolving technologies in the field.
