Expand your expertise in a specific area of architecture through self-directed, long-term research guided by academic supervision. Conduct an architectural research project while honing your abilities in analytical reasoning, evaluation, and research techniques with support from globally-renowned faculty. The School of Architecture and Built Environment focuses on innovative architectural approaches, blending contemporary cultural studies, environmental sustainability, eco-conscious design, technological progress, and socio-theoretical concerns. Research topics span architectural history and theory, design practice, teaching methodologies, building environmental science, professional standards, and digital design. While research forms the core of this program, students must also complete at least one coursework unit.
To be considered for selection into this degree you are required to have completed:
a research project including a thesis which is equivalent to at least 25% of a year’s full-time study at Level 8 of the Australian Qualifications Framework, with achievement of a grade for the project equivalent to a Deakin grade of 65% or equivalent
