The Medicinal Chemistry program equips students with essential knowledge, training, and skills for careers in pharmaceutical research and drug development. Creating novel medications represents one of science's most dynamic and fast-evolving areas, with increasing demand for better, safer treatments targeting both established illnesses (like cancer), emerging conditions (such as HIV/AIDS), and spreading diseases (including malaria and tuberculosis). Modern society confronts numerous health challenges, from antibiotic resistance to neurological disorders, all requiring innovative pharmaceutical solutions. This field focuses on discovering and optimizing therapeutic compounds to address these medical needs.
The combined Bachelor of Science and Master of Nursing program fosters analytical abilities while allowing exploration of various scientific disciplines. Students complete foundational science courses, select a specialization, and supplement with electives to fulfill degree requirements.
The initial year focuses exclusively on science coursework, with nursing studies beginning in the second year. Progression to the Master's level requires meeting academic benchmarks. The nursing curriculum combines theoretical learning with extensive hands-on training, featuring over 800 hours of clinical placements throughout the program.
