Mathematics is a profound, elegant, and multifaceted discipline. It serves as both a universal language and an analytical framework for understanding our world. In introductory 1000 and 2000-level courses, this major introduces students to core mathematical concepts: abstract algebra, multivariable calculus, vector calculus, along with rigorous proof techniques and analysis. Advanced 3000-level courses and beyond offer diverse electives spanning pure and applied mathematics, covering topics like number theory, dynamical systems, geometry, topology, and computational mathematics. The curriculum is carefully structured to support aspiring mathematicians while accommodating students with interdisciplinary interests.
The Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Laws is a dual undergraduate program offering a direct route to legal qualification.
This combined degree begins with essential scientific foundations before allowing specialization. It cultivates critical thinking abilities to evaluate facts, construct legal arguments, assess evidence, and address complex challenges.
Students undertake core science units, junior electives, and a chosen science major alongside foundational law courses. The program also includes Open Learning Environment modules and additional electives to fulfill degree requirements from disciplinary or shared course pools.
Upon completing the Bachelor of Science component, students transition to the Bachelor of Laws, undertaking senior core units and specialized electives from the Sydney Law School curriculum in a structured sequence.
Law electives must include jurisprudence studies, with final-year students having the opportunity to pursue advanced coursework and an honors research project.
