With over 45 study areas in humanities and social sciences available, each Sydney arts degree is distinct, ensuring you'll acquire a one-of-a-kind skillset with diverse career possibilities. Whether you wish to master a foreign language, explore different cultures, examine great literature and ideas, investigate history, analyze contemporary issues, or contemplate future global developments, the Bachelor of Arts will broaden your perspectives and encourage innovative thinking.

Theatre and Performance Studies examines diverse forms of performance - from traditional theater, dance, and live art to the performative aspects of politics, sports, film, and popular culture. Students will experiment with various performance techniques, create original works, and collaborate with resident professional artists. Beyond practical workshop skills, you'll attend numerous performances, learn documentation techniques, analyze spatial and architectural usage, study movement patterns, and transform these observations into comprehensive critiques. Performance also serves as a valuable framework for interpreting non-theatrical events, drawing on interdisciplinary theories from theater studies, movement analysis, anthropology, history, philosophy, and sociology. This major establishes a solid theoretical foundation for future careers in performance, directing, teaching, arts administration, or other cultural practice fields.
