For those dedicated to building a career in creative fields, this program offers the essential skills and global experience to advance your professional journey. You'll develop a modern, well-rounded grasp of both theory and application in your selected specialization, guided by leading experts and industry practitioners who impart their cutting-edge, enthusiastic, and current insights into the creative arts.
This specialization provides comprehensive training in both performance and production aspects of theater, serving as an ideal foundation for aspiring stage artists. As part of Western Australia's longest-running theater arts program at Curtin, you'll master core techniques, theoretical knowledge, and hands-on experience across various theatrical disciplines. These encompass acting, direction, playwriting, dramaturgy, critical evaluation, stage coordination, and theatrical production. Annually, you'll participate in five mainstage productions and up to 25 student-led performances, presented both on-campus and at venues throughout Perth, featuring works from classical repertoire to modern theater pieces.
Students from different countries should have qualifications equivalent to Australian Year 12 and a scaled mark of at least 50 in English, Literature, or English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
