Modern Hebrew, spoken by about nine million people worldwide, serves as today's standard Hebrew variant. Our comprehensive Modern Hebrew program develops five core language competencies: listening comprehension, verbal communication, reading, writing, and cultural understanding. As you progress, you'll enhance these essential linguistic and intercultural skills.

While focusing primarily on conversational Hebrew, the curriculum exposes you to diverse written and spoken formats, from news media to literary works. Upon completing the major, you'll achieve fluency across multiple contexts while gaining analytical skills to examine Modern Hebrew's linguistic characteristics, literature, and cultural significance.

The program accommodates various proficiency levels through placement testing, ensuring appropriate course placement and steady academic progression.

Thanks to our partnership with Jerusalem's Hebrew University through its Rothberg International School, students may complete portions of their studies in Israel.
