The Master of Teaching (Secondary) program prepares individuals with an approved bachelor's degree to become qualified secondary educators. This two-year course cultivates skilled teachers capable of innovative responses to evolving educational demands from social, community, and technological shifts. Upon completion, graduates meet the requirements for secondary teaching certification.
Through hands-on school placements informed by cutting-edge pedagogical research, students complete 75 days of supervised teaching practice. The program builds essential teaching competencies that enhance the specialization from your initial degree.
Successful graduates qualify for Queensland teacher registration and can pursue teaching careers in both public and private secondary schools across Australia and internationally.
An approved bachelor degree with a minimum GPA 4.5 from an approved tertiary institution that meets the requirements for two teaching areas of the secondary curriculum in Australian schools.
Students will be required to submit a statement addressing non-academic criteria.
English Proficiency
IELTS score of 7.5 overall; speaking 8; listening 8, reading 7, writing 7. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ.
TOEFL IBT, TOEFL PBT, Pearsons, BEP, CES, and OET are not accepted.
