The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a globally acknowledged postgraduate research qualification. Under the supervision of your advisory committee, you'll conduct an extensive research initiative, culminating in a 40,000-word dissertation and an oral defense. In certain cases, your final submission may take an alternative format. Full-time MPhil candidates typically complete the program within 1.5 to 2 years, gaining sophisticated subject expertise and methodological skills. This self-directed research degree requires substantial academic preparation for admission, potentially including a research proposal and supplementary application materials. The University of Queensland welcomes approximately 500 MPhil researchers annually across diverse disciplines, with many graduates progressing to doctoral studies.
You have to prove you are prepared for MPhil study. You do this by showing you:
have completed some relevant experience
have completed an approved university degree and
can meet the English language requirements.
