The Master of Philosophy program is designed to extend knowledge beyond undergraduate honors or postgraduate diplomas, culminating in a research-based thesis. After earning this research-focused master's degree, you can apply for admission to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program.
Research-based higher degrees stand apart from other postgraduate qualifications, requiring at least two-thirds of the program to focus on research. While some coursework may be included, the primary component involves producing a thesis under the supervision of academic advisors. Examiners must judge your thesis as making a significant original contribution to any field—whether through new discoveries, theoretical developments, or fresh interpretations of existing knowledge. Additionally, it must showcase your ability to independently plan, execute, and complete research projects.
