It strengthens your technical abilities and research expertise in key molecular biology domains, protein technology, and bioinformatics through an intensive 2 or 3-semester lab experience. You can conduct your research in university labs, an industry environment with academic co-supervision, or through a placement with an industry supervisor at a company, government agency, or other approved organization.

You'll master cutting-edge molecular biology techniques, including protein engineering, directed evolution, enzyme studies, high-throughput screening, bioinformatics, ancestral sequence reconstruction, essential molecular cloning methods, protein purification, and LC-MS analysis of small molecules.

Additionally, you'll develop skills in hypothesis development, experimental design and implementation, while gaining proficiency with Australian laboratory safety protocols. Ongoing meetings with your supervisor ensure continuous progress evaluation and personalized mentorship.
