Applied Linguistics examines language usage, analysis, acquisition, and effective teaching methods. Grasping how languages function is vital for comprehending human behavior across various life stages and settings, from domestic and educational environments to workplaces and global interactions. Our Applied Linguistics program offers top-tier professional development for both Australian and international language experts in second language instruction, learning, and application. The curriculum focuses on real-world language applications, enhancing your knowledge of linguistic functions in diverse social and professional contexts. Learners can pursue various courses analyzing language usage and select electives to customize their studies according to personal objectives. Two specialization tracks are available: TESOL or Language and Discourse Analysis (introduced in 2023). TESOL students explore global English teaching methodologies, while Language and Discourse Analysis students investigate qualitative and quantitative approaches to linguistic usage. The Master of Applied Linguistics equips graduates for careers in education, translation, editing, publishing, linguistic data analysis, and language technology sectors.
