Explore the complex connections between weather patterns, shoreline ecosystems, and oceanic habitats to address pressing issues affecting marine biodiversity.

Through this academic program, you'll conduct self-directed investigations mentored by top Australian marine scientists.

You'll develop, execute, and showcase your research initiative, focusing on problem identification, methodological design, systematic data gathering and interpretation, plus formulating and substantiating findings.

Acquire hands-on skills through fieldwork at UQ's Heron Island Research Station along the Great Barrier Reef or Moreton Bay Research Station on North Stradbroke Island.

Qualification Requirements

All fields of study (excluding Psychology):Bachelor of Science (or equivalent), with: a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale, and a GPA of at least 4.5* for 8 units of courses at level 3 or higher relevant to the honours project, and have secured an honours project and supervisor, and satisfied any additional requirements set by the head of school. IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ TOEFL iBT (including Paper Edition) - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19.
