Earning a Bachelor of Health Sciences from UQ prepares you to positively impact countless lives through a curriculum developed in partnership with healthcare professionals. This program covers biomedical sciences, public health, preventive healthcare, health management, and professional skills, offering flexibility for both clinical and non-clinical career paths. During your third year, you'll complete 90 hours of practical (non-clinical) work placement to gain real-world experience. Non-clinical graduates can pursue roles in designing and implementing effective public health initiatives or continue their education with programs like the Master of Public Health. Those aiming for clinical careers can use this degree as a stepping stone to postgraduate clinical programs such as the Doctor of Medicine, Master of Occupational Therapy Studies, or Master of Dietetics Studies, provided they meet admission criteria. For students with provisional entry to the Doctor of Medicine, this program serves as an excellent foundation, covering biomedical sciences, public health, medical ethics, behavioral sciences, and healthcare systems.
The Clinical Health specialization within the Bachelor of Health Sciences concentrates on individual patient care and serves as a gateway to UQ's postgraduate clinical programs, including the Doctor of Medicine, Master of Physiotherapy Studies, Master of Occupational Therapy Studies, and Master of Speech Pathology Studies. It may also fulfill entry requirements for similar postgraduate programs at other institutions.
