This degree empowers students to undertake in-depth study in pivotal theological disciplines, examining how the Church has historically comprehended divine revelation while producing timeless scholarly work through proper hermeneutical techniques.

True to its Catholic identity, Notre Dame embraces Ex Corde Ecclesiae's declaration that "theology serves a crucial function in both the pursuit of unified understanding and the conversation between spiritual conviction and rational thought." The Master of Theology (Research) represents an advanced research qualification involving a significant investigative endeavor that results in a thesis or equivalent work evaluated by two external assessors.
