The University of New South Wales provides Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs across all its faculties, fostering innovative and original research. Students are expected to advance knowledge in their chosen discipline through this program, which requires at least three years of full-time commitment. Under academic supervision, candidates conduct research culminating in a thesis. Typically, doctoral theses should not surpass 100,000 words and must be submitted for assessment within four years of full-time enrollment.

Qualification Requirements
As a general guide, the UNSW entry requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy are as follows-
A candidate for the degree shall have been awarded an appropriate degree of Bachelor with Honours from the University of New South Wales or a qualification considered equivalent from another university or tertiary institution at a level acceptable to the Research Committee of the appropriate Faculty.
Candidates may apply to convert to a PhD after one year's full-time enrolment in a Masters by Research program by by attending a Confirmation of Candidature Review Panel and satisfying the requirements of this Review Panel as set out in the Research Progress Review and Confirmation of Candidatures Procedure
In exceptional cases an applicant who submits evidence of such other academic and professional qualifications as may be approved by the Committee may be permitted to enrol for the degree.
IELTS - 7.0 overall (min 7.0 in writing, 6.5 in other subtests)
TOEFL iBT - 96 overall (min. 27 in writing, 23 in reading, listening and speaking)
